Survive - Exploit – Develop - Defend
Use the resources available to survive alone in an alien landscape. Defend yourself against scavengers, war-droids and the elements. Train in combat and complete missions for rewards. Trade resources with traders and corporations. Build an empire which spans the inner solar system… and defend it.
Choose your character from a dozen potential crash survivors – male or female, old or young, strong or agile, criminal or heroic, each character has their own strengths and weaknesses which requires a different style of gameplay. Interact with a solar system of characters. Some will help you. Some will hurt you. Most will ignore you. All have their own stories. And they all remember how you treat them, so be nice!
Find a niche for yourself and gain rewards by undertaking missions or trading resources.
Build mines and factories and develop technology.
Build or buy vehicles to expand your reach on land or in space. Build space stations and develop deep space trade routes.
Build a fleet of space vehicles for peaceful trade, for war or piracy.
Become a space legend.
Combat Styles
Earth Dust Rust is a 3rd person shooter, role playing game and strategy game. There are several elements to the game :
Ground Combat

Attack or defend against land-based enemies using a variety of guns, blunt instruments or stabbing weapons. |

Ride on small vehicles like motorbikes or quadbikes and use guns to shoot enemies. |

Drive military tanks and armoured vehicles and shoot machine guns and projectiles. |
Space Combat
|
Using just the lasers on your space suit, attack or defend yourself against enemies and objects in the vacuum of space. |

Basically a hang-glider with guns, a Light Ship is fast and agile and can be used by space soldiers or pirates when attacking large space ships. |

From small fighters, freighters to larger destroyer class space ships, fly and shoot in an array of space ships to survive battles in space. |
Personal Interaction.
Meet and talk to people, robots and cyborgs in a variety of locations from the shanty towns of the plains of Rust to the great cities of Dust. People may remember how you treat them – every choice has a consequence.
Business.
Start a business selling any resources you can collect. Build it into an empire that spans the inner solar system. Trade with Earth, Dust, Rust and space stations in between. Exploit the Asteroid Belt. Build factories and mines to develop your operations. Carefully manage your business and defend it against rival corporations and criminal organisations.
